Training Centre Accreditation for Department

REHIS logoHealth Promotion has recently been awarded accreditation as a Training Centre for the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS).  REHIS is Scotland’s awarding body for qualifications in food and health.

The department are currently working with a range of community and third sector organisations in offering the ‘Elementary Food and Health Course’. With a minimum teaching time of 6 hours, ending with revision and a short exam, the course offers an accreditation on The Function of Food/Energy Measure and Influences on Food Intake/Eating for Health/ and Action Planning.

The course enables participants to use their knowledge and new skills of food and health to work though and improve food in a variety of settings. In partnership with the Comhairle Nan Eilean Sair Environmental Health, (an existing accredited centre) this initative provides the third sector, volunteers and community groups with a comprehensive range of accredited REHIS courses including Food Safety and Health and Safety training.
