Recently NHS Western Isles organised a treasure hunt on behalf of the British Heart Foundation. The event was organised by Pursuit Hebrides with clues relating to heart health, and keeping a healthy heart.

A total of 198 people attended the event and £348 was raised, as well as providing fantastic promotion for the work of the British Heart Foundation which was referenced throughout the treasure hunt, and in the promotional material picked up at the end.

The money raised was donated to Lucky2BHere –a Skye based charity that provides defibrillators, and other life saving equipment and training to both the general public and health professionals. It has provided defibrillators to many rural communities across Skye and the Highlands, some extremely remote, and this year Lucky2Bhere has installed several defibrillators across the Western Isles. Fundraising activities focus on initiatives related to exercise, health and wellbeing.

On accepting a cheque from Debra Vickers (Lead Nurse Cardiac Services BHF) and Norma Macleod (HWL Advisor), Tony Wade (Sports Facilities Services Manager at CNES) stated:
“I am delighted to accept this donation on behalf of ’Lucky2BHere’. Thanks to its support, we now have defibrillators at all Comhairle sports facilities and the Nicolson Institute, the largest school in the Outer Hebrides. We are working to increase access to both the machines and training in communities close to these buildings – similar to the great work that has already been undertaken in Harris. We are very grateful for this contribution. There will be more fundraising events taking place in the coming months to support ‘Luckyto2BHere’ and all it does to improve the chances of surviving a cardiac incident in the Highlands and Islands”.
