No Smoking Day: ‘V for Victory’ in the Western Isles

Smoking - V for Victory 1

Smokers in the Western Isles were urged to prepare for battle and attempt to give up cigarettes for good on No Smoking Day, which took place on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

This year’s No Smoking Day had a ‘V for Victory’ theme, to inspire hundreds of thousands of smokers to win the fight against cigarettes.  The campaign was aimed at helping smokers on the road to victory; providing information, support and encouragement to put together a personal battle plan, so that they were in the best possible position to make a successful quit attempt.

No Smoking Day proved to be a great opportunity for Smokefree Hebrides to encourage and support smokers in the Western Isles to quit, alongside hundreds of thousands of other people across the UK.

Quitting isn’t easy, but support is available to smokers who want to quit and they can win the battle against cigarettes. There’s a much higher chance of succeeding with the right support and for further information please contact Smokefree Hebrides, tel. 01851 701623.

Note. When the Health Promotion team heard that the No Smoking Day theme for 2014 would be ‘V for victory’, they immediately thought of our hard working dedicated Military personnel and their support staff based in the Uists. To the team’s delight, they were invited to the Range to promote ‘No Smoking Day’. The day was very enjoyable and successful due to the enthusiasm and friendly Qinetiq staff. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved and look forward to working together again on future health improvement campaigns.
