Intergenerational Work – Barra Children’s Centre activities with Cobhair Bharraigh and St. Brendans Care Home

Health Promotion (Uists & Barra team) have been working in partnership with Barra Children’s Centre to provide a programme of activities addressing isolation and mental health issues with patients who are residents of St. Brendans Care Home and service users of Cobhair Bharraigh.

The programme will look to encourage intergenerational activities between the local children’s nursery and the patients. It will allow older and younger people who would not otherwise have met get to know each other and share experiences in a creative and safe environment.

The children from Barra Children’s Centre are planning activities such as going on health walks with the residents, baking cakes and scones to share with the residents after the walk, arts and crafts activities for the residents to take part in and provide musical and social interaction.

PIctured are the children who are participating in the intergeneration work outside St. Brendan’s Care Home (note. two not featured).
