Information sessions to Lews Castle College students

Quit Your Way Hebrides were delighted to be invited to deliver information sessions about smoking and tobacco to the Health and Beauty class and the Mixed Ability class at Lews Castle College recent.

Students were invited to take part in a quiz about tobacco and this encouraged questions and discussions from the participants. There was also an exercise which gave students an opportunity to experience what it can be like to suffer from COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

COPD is the term used for a group of lung conditions including bronchitis and emphysema. They make it difficult to empty air out of the lungs because the airways have been narrowed. Smoking is the main cause of COPD and is thought to be responsible for around 9 in every 10 cases of the disease.

Feedback was very positive with students commenting that they enjoyed the activities and the quiz, and learnt something new.
